EURO COSMETICS: Stacey, please tell us about yourself and your background
Stacey House: I started my career on the brand side at Revlon and Coty, supporting all facets within R&D over a combined 14-year period. I then moved into the supplier side of the cosmetic industry as the Director of Applications for Kobo Products, managing labs in the USA, Brazil, and France. During this time, I was involved in ingredient development of sunscreen technologies, surface treatments and dispersions to optimize pigments in support of diversity & inclusivity, and of natural platforms. Afterwards, I joined MANA Products as the Director of R&D and prior to my current position; I was Global Head of Innovation for KDC-One’s Beauty and Personal Care Division, responsible for driving industry leading product development for the organization.
I am now at COTY, as Senior Vice President Consumer Beauty, Color & Body, LATAM. Throughout my career I have been involved in hundreds of product launches and helping emerging brands develop product lines. I hold a patent on Low Viscosity Phenyl Trimethicone Applications and have given presentations globally for the Society of Cosmetic Chemist (SCC), IFSCC, NYSCC, and other events.
I graduated from Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business with MBAs in International Business, Operations and Supply Chain Management and received my Bachelor of Science degree at Rutgers University-New Brunswick with a focus on Microbiology in Cosmetics.
While I started at Revlon I learned about the NYSCC and could not wait to join. However, at the time, the SCC was not really an organization for students or young professionals. I am so glad today we are really embracing and nurturing students and our next generation of cosmetic chemists. We want them to be part of our community and also be able to learn with us along the way.
It is an honor to have been elected and a privilege to serve as the NYSCC Chair this year.

While I started at Revlon I learned about the NYSCC and could not wait to join.
It is an honor to have been elected and a privilege to serve as the NYSCC Chair this year.

EURO COSMETICS: What are the main priorities you set as new chair?
Stacey House: Growing our engagement with members and building upon our strong legacy of providing relevant education and value. This year NYSCC plans to provide more programs that are diverse, and address comprehensive topics that are vital to all aspects of our industry. It’s making sure that we’re able to get in front of what’s important and even dive deeper with roundtables on these topics. These types of discussions are really prompting us to be able to move the needle.
It seems that it is resonating with our members and the beauty and personal care industry, as our February program on “Hair Care and Wellness” was sold-out. This presentation covered really important and current topics such as: “The Implications of Lifestyle on Hair and Scalp Health”; “Scalp Application of Antioxidants Improves Scalp Condition and Reduces Hair Shedding in Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trials,” and “Scalp Evaluation by FTIR Spectroscopy.”
We also will endeavor to the keep the NYSCC and Suppliers’ Day brand flourishing across our region, North America, and around the world by partnering with national SCC, sister chapters, IFSCC as well as other leading industry associations and organizations and having a presence at their events. In addition, we will continue to offer webinars to engage cosmetic chemists from all regions of the world.

EURO COSMETICS: NYSCC Suppliers’ Day serves as one of the most important events in North America. A special focus this year is on “Reimagining Renewal & Wellness”. Why this topic focus and who do you want to address?
Stacey House: With the stressors that we have all experienced in the last few years, NYSCC will focus on “Reimagining Renewal & Wellness.” Suppliers’ Day, May 2–3, at the Javits Center in New York, will embrace all elements that foster renewal and will shine a light on sustainable beauty and bridge how wellness, and eco-consciousness touches all areas of the industry. Attendees will be immersed in relaxing scents and be able to re-charge their minds and bodies in activations on the show floor along with key installations that will bring nature indoors!
By “Reimagining Renewal & Wellness” and all that it embraces at the event, we will attract new attendees that may not necessarily be tapped into the traditional beauty and personal care space from a color-skin-Interviewhair perspective, as well as broaden our discussions and education offerings.

EURO COSMETICS: What would you say are the advantages of participating or attending Suppliers’ Day?
Stacey House: As North America’s main event for ingredient and formulation innovations there is truly something for everyone at Suppliers’ Day. For more than
40 years, it is a must attend forum for cosmetic chemists, formulators and the entire beauty and personal care industry.
All under one roof, attendees will discover the latest trends, R&D advances, global ingredients, raw materials and solutions that will invigorate and accelerate their beauty and personal care product developments.
Suppliers’ Day will offer 100+ hours of education, 500+ exhibitors (our biggest exhibit floor to date) and hundreds of new products. There is no better event to learn, share ideas, and network to propel innovation than at Suppliers’ Day.

EURO COSMETICS: Which topics will be even more in the spotlight this year?
Stacey House: Biotech’s role in beauty is really interesting and one NYSCC will explore and discuss at Suppliers’ Day including at a session curated by our Scientific Advisory Committee on: Biotechnology in Beauty & Personal Care. They also will take a deep dive into: Hair & Scalp Renewal & Wellness.
Consumer demand for skinification and customization of beauty and personal care products will lead to some exciting innovations on the exhibit floor and in the conference including the Digital Age of Beauty.
Being more sustainable never goes out of style, and will continue to be at the forefront of the event with the Discover Sustainability program covering green beauty, upcycling, as well as solutions to support circularity.
Renewal and wellness is not complete without exploring the latest trends and research in Microbiome: Inside/Out Beauty.
Two lunch and learns will cover Natural Ingredients, More Tech and Science Needed: A Discussion with the Experts and The Chinese Beauty & Personal Care Market.
PCPC along with IKW will discuss Reimagining, Renewal, & Wellness: Modernizing Cosmetics Regulations that includes

The Main Stage on the exhibit floor will feature hot topics to keep attendees updated on what’s happening in oral care, pet care, DE&I, as well as legal takeaways in brand development, contract manufacturing, color, influencers, and sustainable packaging.

EURO COSMETICS: What educational program are you offering students to give them even better support in their work?
Stacey House: NYSCC Suppliers’ Day is the ultimate cosmetic science roadmap for students and young professionals. Starting with our Future Chemists Workshop that will offer two sessions for university students on the first day of the event. This is a unique opportunity for them to learn about formulating, ingredients and gain hands on experience of working in a lab.

The NYSCC Mentorship Program is a must for the young, the veterans, and those looking to expand their horizons. University Row in Aisle 500 will also be bigger and better with even more higher education institutions participating and presenting their cosmetic science programs and other advanced degrees to enhance and elevate industry careers.

EURO COSMETICS: Which partners are you working with to make Suppliers’ Day accessible to an even wider audience?
Stacey House: We work very closely with National SCC and our sisters chapter’s across the country to promote Suppliers’ Day as well as recruit students for the Future Chemists Workshop. The SCC will also present two CEP courses on May 1st that cover: Formulating with Natural Oils and Butters for the Cosmetics Industry: Technical Background and Best Practices and Introduction to Sensory Characterization of Cosmetic Emulsions.
In addition, we collaborate with IFSCC on content and speaker recruitment as well as ABC in South America. NYSCC has also expanded its partnerships with other industry associations that are committed to helping the beauty and personal care industry innovate and grow including PCPC (Personal Care Products Council), IBA (Independent Beauty Association), and our continue collaboration with CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) on the Supplier’s Award for Ingredients and Formulation.
New partnerships formed to cast an even wider net include ABPIHPEC from Brazil, and The Association of Contract Packaging and Manufacturing. Of course our media partnerships are also essential in helping us amplify our message and promote Suppliers’ Day.

EURO COSMETICS: In which areas do you expect new impulses at the event?
Stacey House: The INDIE 360 Pavilion is popular with a record number of brands participating that use standout ingredients and formulations in a novel way and are in demand by consumers. These brands will be showcased along with accelerator programs that are driving INDIE expansion. Attendees will also have the opportunity to vote for the brand that they feel is a game changer, in the People’s Choice Award for 2023. There will also be an INDIE 360 program that focuses on every angle of launching and sustaining your brand.
The Poster Presentation Showcase is back in Hall D, featuring the latest scientific and ingredients and formulation breakthroughs that will satiate any ones technical appetite.
We also expect hundreds of new product announcements from our exhibitors and many will be highlighted in the Innovations Theater.
The World of Chemistry is also a mainstay of the event and provides a global perspective and discussion on raw materials, solutions, formulation, and regulations.
Fragrance: The Invisible Art is back with expert perspectives from the supplier, formulator, regulator, marketer, and product development: the essential players in creating the “invisible art”.
Also new this year is a Brazilian Pavilion featuring several companies from the region that are defining the beauty landscape and is being organized by ABIHPEC. We are also working with IBA to bring their “Truth in Beauty” panel featuring sci-comm influencers to the East Coast.

This year NYSCC plans to provide more programs that are diverse, and address comprehensive topics that are vital to all aspects of our industry. It’s making sure that we’re able to get in front of what’s important and even dive deeper with roundtables on these topics.

EURO COSMETICS: And what else can we look forward to at the NYSCC Suppliers’ Day this year?
Stacey House: Suppliers’ Day is something that we at NYSCC always look forward to every year. “Beauty Week” at the Javits Center in New York City has become the pulse of North America’s ingredients and formulations market. This year’s event is poised to be our biggest and most interactive rendition.
There is no better way to kick off Suppliers’ Day than at the Ribbon Cutting ceremony featuring NYSCC Board Members, as well as industry executives who have partnered with us to bring RENEWAL, WELLNESS & HEALTHY LIVING to life!
The Industry Awards Night is also a must-attend staple celebration taking place on opening night at Second Floor NYC. The eight finalists of the CEW Beauty Creators Supplier’s Award – Ingredients/Formulations Category – will be announced along with an immersive renewal and well-being experience.
Suppliers’ Day will truly be a relevant and beneficial event for all those who attend. Being this is THE event FOR the industry BY the industry – we have our pulse on the latest innovations and educational needs and can seamlessly meet those demands in the most cost-effective, time-efficient manner.
Without a doubt, Suppliers’ Day will fulfill your top three business needs: New Products, Education, and Networking. I encourage everyone to register to attend and to begin planning their agenda for the event at www.nyscc.org/suppliers-day
