Nouryon, a global specialty chemicals leader, today announced it has commenced operations at its new Integrated Manufacturing Model site in Ribas do Rio Pardo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, which includes the production of hydrogen peroxide, sodium chlorate, and chlorine dioxide. The new investment, designed in partnership with a long-term customer in Brazil, significantly increases Nouryon’s total sodium chlorate capacity available to the market, and supports the growing pulp and paper industry in the region.
“Nouryon is pleased to begin operations in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, expanding our footprint as a leading supplier to the pulp and paper industry in the region. Our increased sodium chlorate capacity will support the fast-growing pulp and paper industry in South America, and we take pride in strengthening the trust of our customers with our strategic investments,” said Larry Ryan, President at Nouryon. “The launch of another Integrated Manufacturing Model site in Brazil builds on our commitment to the pulp and paper industry and supports our successful growth strategy in South America.”
Nouryon has a long history of designing and building full-scale Integrated Manufacturing Model sites which provide customers with tailor-made onsite facilities, including the management of essential raw materials needed in pulp production. Nouryon’s pulp bleaching services and chlorine dioxide generator expertise help keep customers’ operations running smoothly.
Nouryon has been successfully operating its sustainable Integrated Manufacturing Model in Brazil since 2005. Currently, it operates six Integrated Manufacturing Model sites in the country which offer on-location sodium chlorate and/or chlorine dioxide production. The new site in Mato Gross do Sul generates green hydrogen, which is used to manufacture hydrogen peroxide as an extension of Nouryon’s product offerings.
“Over the past nearly 20 years, we have adapted our Integrated Manufacturing Model to meet our customers’ needs. Our world-class application knowledge, optimized supply chain and global logistics solutions provide our customers with a significant operational advantage. Our strategy is to continue to expand in the paper, board, and tissue markets, by delivering specialty chemicals that enable our customers to produce pulp, which is then converted into everyday products,” said Ann Lindgärde, Senior Vice President, Renewable Fibers at Nouryon.
With more than eighty years of supplying essential chemicals and pioneering solutions to the pulp and paper industry, Nouryon offers a full portfolio of solutions to the pulp and paper industry, which tailor the function of pulp fiber to include strength, absorption, brightness and viscosity for the use in tissue and packaging applications.
