“What I value most is how Suppliers’ Day has evolved into a true global gathering. It’s more than a trade show—it’s a hub for innovation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing”.
EURO COSMETICS:
The countdown to NYSCC Suppliers’ Day in June has begun. What makes this year’s event special?
John Carola:
Suppliers’ Day, taking place June 3–4, is truly exceptional this year as we’re moving into the expanded upper level of the Javits Center—the Crystal Palace. This vibrant new space gives us a larger, more dynamic footprint that reflects the scale and energy of the beauty and personal care industry. The timing also aligns with mid-year product development cycles, giving attendees a strategic edge for planning and innovation. With more than 600 international exhibitors and over 100 hours of educational programming, the 2025 show is shaping up to be our most impactful yet.
EURO COSMETICS:
And what do you especially appreciate about this event?
John Carola:
What I value most is how Suppliers’ Day has evolved into a true global gathering. It’s more than a trade show—it’s a hub for innovation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing. You feel the collective passion of formulators, chemists, R&D leaders, and marketers, all united in advancing beauty through science. NYSCC’s partnerships with SCC, sister chapters, and numerous industry associations fuel our programming and on-site activations. New partners this year include CPA (Association of Contract Packagers and Manufacturers) and EFfCI (European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients). These collaborations generate new ideas, foster growth, and open doors to exciting opportunities.
EURO COSMETICS:
This year’s theme is “The Nexus of Science and Beauty.” What do you associate with this motto?
John Carola:
This theme truly reflects what’s propelling our industry forward. Scientific innovation is accelerating beauty—whether through biotech, neuroaesthetics, AI-driven personalization, or sustainable solutions. Our keynote, a fireside chat with Stacey House from Coty, will explore how scientific leadership and agility are reshaping the beauty landscape. It’s about recognizing that true innovation happens where scientific discovery meets creative vision.
EURO COSMETICS:
As North America’s most important ingredients and formulation event, what trends are in focus this year?
John Carola:
We’re spotlighting the most transformative topics in our field: biotech advancements, derma beauty, microbiome science, hair and scalp innovation, compliance, and sustainability. Our educational programming—developed with the Scientific Advisory Committee—dives deep into these areas, with tracks on AI personalization, novel raw materials, global regulations, and more. Specialty sessions like “Brains + Beauty” and “Fragrance: The Invisible Art” bring additional depth.
Making its debut this year is the Formulators’ Tour: The Wellbeing of Water—a curated journey through waterless innovation, aquatic-sourced ingredients, and water-conscious formulation strategies. Also returning is the INDIE 360° Pavilion, developed with IBA and CEW, showcasing 20 emerging brands redefining sustainability, compliance, and ingredient innovation.
For students and young professionals, we offer the Future Chemists Workshop, career panels, and mentorship mixers—ensuring the next generation is supported and empowered.
EURO COSMETICS:
BEAUTYSTREAMS is sponsoring a special area called the Inspiration Hive. What can attendees expect?
John Carola:
The Inspiration Hive, curated by BEAUTYSTREAMS, is an immersive experience highlighting select exhibitors’ breakthrough technologies, ingredients, and trends that are shaping the future of beauty. It’s designed to spark ideas, showcase sustainability innovations, and offer a forward-looking lens that attendees can bring back to their labs and companies. It’s a space for both imagination and implementation.
EURO COSMETICS:
What path has your career taken at NYSCC Suppliers’ Day?
John Carola:
My journey has been incredibly fulfilling. I began as an enthusiastic participant and joined the original committee for the Future Chemists Workshop nine years ago. It’s incredibly rewarding to now see former student participants in leadership roles within the industry. Programs like FCW and mentorship initiatives are helping to make NYSCC more inclusive and accessible to emerging professionals. As Chair this year, I’m honored to help shape an event that’s by the industry, for the industry—making real impact on innovation and careers.
EURO COSMETICS:
The event is being held on the newly expanded upper floor of the Javits Center. What advantages does this bring?
John Carola:
The Crystal Palace on the third level offers a more open, connected, and vibrant space. For exhibitors, it means greater visibility and more booth design opportunities. For attendees, it improves flow between areas like the Inspiration Hive, Technical Posters Showcase, and Main Stage sessions including Hot Topics, Formulation Forum, and our keynote. Overall, it’s a venue that matches the ambition and scale of our industry.
