How does hair fall happen?
Hair is made up of 95% keratin, a fibrous, water insoluble protein, rich with the amino acid cysteine. The hair roots extend to the deeper layers of skin from where it gets nourishment. Hair
growth occurs in three phases. The elongating phase, called anagen phase, lasts for about 100–150 days depending on the nature of hair. At the end of anagen phase, the blood supply to hair roots is stopped and it enters the catagen phase when no hair growth happens. It lasts for about 2–4 weeks. Eventually, in telophase, the hair gets loosely attached to the follicle and falls out. Not more than 10 percent of the follicles are in the resting phase (telogen) at any time. Then, new hairs grow in the empty hair follicles (Blume-Peytavi et al., 2008; Malkud, 2015). Normally, a
healthy adult loses 50–100 hairs per day which are replaced by new hairs continuously. The etiology of hair loss is not yet fully understood and medical treatment has limited effectiveness.
When the growth cycle is disturbed by any external or internal factors like malnutrition, microbial infections, stress etc., it causes damage to the existing hair and impair hair growth (Price, 1999).

Proscalpin™: A Clinically proven product for hair care
Cell based in vitro studies and clinical evaluation have shown the beneficial effects of ProscalpinTM on hair health. The UV rays are reported to directly affect the epidermal cell function thereby cause hair damage. ProscalpinTM successfully prevented the UV damage and protected almost 95% of the Human Dermal Papilla Cells (HFDPC) from death even at high dose of UV exposure.
